Strata 2.0 (Decision Memory & Provenance Graph)

Strata 2.0 turns your notes, meetings, and captured documents into a durable, source-backed decision record. It remembers why decisions were made, tracks how context changes over time, and highlights contradictions before they impact your work.

Decision Lifecycle

1. Detection & Candidate Extraction: Phasoric scans notes for explicit decision markers (e.g., Decision:, Approved:), extracts items from meeting transcripts, or proposes candidates during research.

2. User Confirmation: Candidates appear in your Strata queue. You can confirm, edit, postpone, or reject proposals.

3. Durable Decision Record: Confirming a candidate creates an immutable revision and durable decision record.

4. Change Monitoring: Strata monitors source notes. Edits or rewrites trigger change signals rather than silently rewriting decision history.

5. Review & Supersession: Mark decisions as active, superseded, rejected, or archived as requirements evolve.

Confirmed decisions also participate in the shared trusted knowledge ledger. Confirmation records a Reviewed source fingerprint; reaffirmation can advance it to Verified; source drift becomes Changed; review deadlines become Stale; and supersession preserves the former record as Superseded. Decision workflow status and trust status remain separate fields.

Block Fingerprinting & Provenance

  • Stable Block Hashing: Every decision source is tracked using a stable block content fingerprint and surrounding context hashes rather than a volatile line number.
  • Relocation & Detached Links: Moving a block within a note maintains provenance automatically. If a source is substantially rewritten or deleted, Strata flags the reference as detached for user review.

Decision Relationships

Link decisions to construct a rich decision graph using defined relation types:

  • supersedes: Explicitly replaces a former decision.
  • contradicts: Flags logical tensions between conflicting statements.
  • depends_on: Maps prerequisites and dependencies.
  • implements: Links actionable decisions to delivery artifacts.
  • informs: Connects background evidence or research notes.
  • duplicates: Merges duplicate decision proposals.

Team Decision Review

For Team & Collaboration plan users, Strata provides shared review queues and approval workflows:

  • Submit proposed decisions for team review.
  • Assign decision owners and stakeholders.
  • Maintain a complete, immutable decision audit log across shared vaults.

One-Click Decision Register Export

Click `Export Register` in the Strata header to generate a styled, portable Markdown decision ledger (decision_register_YYYY-MM-DD.md).

  • Structured Report: Includes decision text, status, owner, review date, source note link, line number, provenance fingerprint, and relationship graph.
  • Export Formats: Ideal for client deliverables, executive leadership updates, and audit compliance.
